Back to Tears Dry On Their Own - EP
?
The chorus is a metaphor referencing the cycle of abuse and the cycle of addiction, with the latter being referenced in the second verse. CIL is saying that she has blood on her hands, because she “killed” him, and ended the relationship, but he still wants to be with her. This leads her to want to give him one more shot, which can either be to “shoot” him again and say no (solidifying the end of the relationship), or give him another chance to change. The contradictory line (I’ll give you one more shot) is also comparable to how those addicted to drugs know they need to stop, but they just can’t. This also ties into the idea of the cycle of abuse where the abuser will try to convince the victim that they will change, when they normally don’t.
Additionally, The line “I’ll give you one more shot” also ties into the second verse where she mentions her partners drug use, as in him being addicted to her and needs one more shot (a reference to shooting heroin), feeding into the cycle of addiction, which will make it worse and continue the toxicity.
If he’s lying about drugs, he’s probably also lying about the girl he’s just friends with. She noticed a hickey that she didn’t give him, which is her final proof that he was cheating.
